reality. Many times architects and designers come to us with an exact design of what they want and how they want it executed on the glass. With computer aided technology we can take their drawings or computer files and create exactly what they want. some job with letters and logo There are times when a simple design is wanted and we are able to provide the client with an unlimited assortment of books with various designs for their project. Photo of books Then there is the client who sees a picture in some publication or other project and wants that duplicated or has broken a door and wants the glass that was in it matched. We are specialists at that. 620 j0b or pic from catalog to glass The other client is one who has a concept. The idea has not been formed in their mind fully and sometimes is only a spark of the imagination. We sit down with the client and talk, further developing their idea until they feel comfortable that I too have a grasp of it. I then take the notes and turn them into a rough sketch to present to the client for approval. Once a rough sketch is approved, I then make a more formal drawing adding detail. Changes and input by the client are crucial at this point and until the project is finished. ROUGH SKETCH After approval of the final drawing, a full size, hand drawn, pattern is made. At this point fine detail is added and any changes to be made are finalized. The client for this project lived in another state and changes were made via e-mail. Research was done on the uniforms of Roman soldiers during the era 65 A.D. and life studies of body movement were used to create movement in the men and horses. Digital images were transferred back and forth until exact expressions and proportions that pleased the client were achieved. ShOW PATCHED PATTRENS AND CHANGES Approval of final pattern is made, blasting diagrams are added to indicate what is to be blasted, deeply carved, shaded, or clear and the pattern is transferred to the glass using carbon paper and the process begins. I invite the client to visit the studio as the piece is developed in order to feel more a part of the creative process and make any last minute changes that may be needed. FINAL PICTURE OF PANELS |
