Learning to Fly
I took up writing after a dry spell in my creativity. The Artist's Way set me on a
road to free asssociation writing that seemed for a few weeks to be not much more
than complaints and grumblings. After a while I set my mind to write letters of
thanks to a couple of high-school teachers who had liked and had afforded me
opportunities as a kid. As I wrote, I remembered the names of a couple of other
teachers who had been nice to me. By the time I had written a couple of those I
began to write letters to those I hadn't liked. I began to realize the teachers I
hadn't liked was because of the discipline they forced on me. I was a straight "F"
student in elementry and high-school and I couldn't see the path they were so
determined to prevent me from going down. Instead I had rebelled. The result of
my musings became a book entitled "Dear Mr. Madison" and was published in
2001. It contains over 64 letters of gratitude to those teachers in my life who tried
valiantly to save a self destructive kid.

Since the publishing of the book, I have had my work (
My Aunt Peggy) published
in "Angels on Earth" (A Guidepost's publication) and (
The Tunnell) in "The Noble
Years" Vol. 2 published by Barnes and Noble.

I am currently working on a novel dealing with my incarceration of six years from a
case of mistaken identity from a young eyewitness.
